Opportunities and barriers to woodfuel system approaches

1st October 2009

Woodland Enterprise Centre

Background

A one day research event that discussed issues relating to the production of woodfuel from established woodlands in private ownership (in South East England). The objective was to both provide and gather relevant information. The morning included presentations on the operational, social and business dimensions of woodfuel production, with the afternoon for small group discussions of key issues such as:

  • The influences upon private landowners to engage, or not, in woodfuel production
  • The types of assistance required to facilitate woodfuel production from private land
  • The sorts of partnerships suitable for delivering that assistance and thus supporting an effective woodfuel sector.
